  3. What do They Do? • They create many things such as: • Automation • robotics • heating and ventilation • refrigeration

  4. Aviadvigate OJSC • Aviadvigate is the 1st largest mechanical engineering company in the world • They are mainly developers and builders of aero-engines for multiple aircrafts • Designs and builds high efficiency gas turbine units for electric power stations and gas pumping plants

  5. Bystronic • Bystronic is the 2nd largest mechanical engineering • company in the world • They are active in producing high-quality machines and systems for processing of sheet metal

Frederick McKinley Jones • Born May 17, 1893 and died February 21, 1961 • Was an inductee of the National Inventors Hall of Fame in 2007 • His most famous inventions included: • - Air conditioner for vehicles • - mobile refrigeration for vehicles • - During his time being a mechanic, he taught himself electronics and built a transmitter for the town’s radio station

  8. Irwin M. Lachman • Was an inventor and co-inventor of the catalytic converter • Inducted into the National Inventor’s Hall of Fame • in 2002 • Major inventions include: • - ceramic substrate • - catalytic converter
