  2. Kicking • What is kicking ? • Kicking is striking an object with your foot usually while the object is on the ground • Why is kicking skill important? Kicking is used in many activities and sports (ex soccer, football, kickball, bag)

  3. National Standards • Standard 1: Demonstrates competency in motor skills and movement patterns needed to perform a variety of physical activity (ex taps the ball from one foot to another, shifting weight and balance on the non dribbling foot, while the other is in location

  4. Levels of kicking • Precontrol level- is making contact with a stationary ball or object (ex kicking a rock)

  6. Control • Control level- at this level children can kick the ball for accuracy, and in different directions

  8. Utilization • Utilization Level- at this level we want the kids to be able to us the kick on the move or in reaction to another
