  1. Blog: PetiteSchoolHouse Picking up Your Child from Day Care: Tips for End of Day Childcare Routine Raising a child is not easy, and it becomes even more challenging when both parents are working. Of course, a reliable child care center turns out to be a blessing, but as a parent, you need to be very careful about the preschool you choose and the routine you set for your children. A routine is considered very healthy for a child because it helps build stability and trust. 1. Make it a habit to connect with your child’s teachers and admin staff at the education center. If not daily, you can talk to them about your child’s progress at least two times a week. This would help you get updates about your child’s performance in class, and you will also learn of areas in which you need to work with your child. The teachers at the preschool will also get confidence that you are involved in your child’s learning. 2. For a smoother pick-up experience, get all your stuff together first and then pick up your child from the education center. This gives you a moment to calm down if you’ve had a rough day and you don’t want to expose your child to it. You would also save time because if you gather your things after picking up your child, they may run away to play with friends.

This could mean giving him or her 10-15 minutes to finish playing or a few minutes to pack their bag and get their books or just say goodbye to their friends. This would soon become a part of the routine, and your child would get used to doing this when they see you at the child care center.
