  1. Guidelines To Choosing Custom Cable Assembly

  2. In medical device industry, there is very little or no room for error that can be accepted as compared to other industries. Medical devices are highly sensitive equipments and wire assemblies are an important component for these devices.

  3. Choose the best Medical wire assemblies are used to connect medical and laboratory instruments and equipments. Cable Assembly by Peter’s Technology is manufactured in ISO 13485 certified facility and are highly functional.

  4. Know the tips Guidelines: The medical Cable Assembly used in medical devices should be carefully chosen so that they meet exact standards. Shielding Environment Circuits or conductors Primary insulations Twisting of conductors Outer sheath Connectors Safety certifications

  5. 1. Shielding: Wire assemblies may have a type of electromagnetic shielding material that is wrapped around the wire assemblies. Shielding helps to prevent electrical noise that affects the transmitted signal and reduces electromagnetic radiation emission from the wire. It typically involves foil shield and braid shield. 2. Environment: While choosing a wire assembly, companies should consider the environment where it will be used. Whether it will be used in a harsh environment or in a clean room environment or it will be used in a place where it would get exposed to sunlight or moisture.

  6. 3. Circuits or conductors: The number and type of circuits which are included in an assembly depends on the application in which it will be used. A variety of options are available for the type of conductive material and the stranding used to construct the circuit. Options are also available for the types of plating that are applied to the conductive material. Copper is the most versatile and widely used conductor material. 4. Primary insulations: The amount of voltage that the wire assemblies will need to carry determines the type of insulation to be used. The material, thickness and the type that are used for the insulation of the conductor depends on the application in which it will be used. Insulators are available in Thermoset or Thermoplastic compositions

  7. 5. Twisting of conductors: • Twisting of cables is done to cancel out the EMI or Electromagnetic Interference from external sources. EMI may give rise to noise problems with wires in certain applications. Twisted pairs of wire should be considered for assemblies that are to be used for data signal transmission. • 6. Outer sheath: • After the construction of the cable core, an outer sheath also called a jacket is applied acting as a protective cover. An outer sheath protects the wires from harsh environments, allows movement of wires both during installation and during the life cycle of the equipment and makes it chemically resistant. PVC is a cost effective and widely used compound for this purpose.

  8. 7. Connectors: • The type and speed of signal that is transmitted determines the choice of connectors. There are many options available when it comes to connectors to be used for assemblies. For example if a high speed signal needs to be transmitted, solder or welded type connector is a good option. • 8. Safety certifications: • Location is an important factor where the wire harness will be used. Assemblies need to comply with the safety certifications and environmental standards that are regarded as law in a specific region. While choosing wire harnesses, companies should check the manufacturer’s current regulatory certifications like UL, CSA, IEC, FDA, ISO etc.

  9. Associate with the best However, the best custom cable manufacturer meets these guidelines required for medical device industry and medical device manufacturing companies should avail their services for their applications.
