What is a permanent? • Owned by members of RUSA • Scheduled by the rider on whatever day and time they deem fit. • Qualifies for a variety of RUSA mileage awards (distance, R-12, P-12, etc) • Use basically the same rules as a brevet but usually require receipts instead of signatures for controls

  3. Who rides them? Any RUSA member can ride a permanent Joining RUSA is quick, painless and cheap Side Fact: Any RUSA member can also own a permanent. So if you have a favorite ride of 100+ km, you too can join the elite crowd of those that own rides.

  4. Where are they? • Permanents are everywhere, there are over 1,000 in the US. • Permanents in the West Twin Cities are run by myself and everything you need to know is at http://minnesotapermanents.blogspot.com • Other permanents in Minnesota and the Twin Cities can be found on the RUSA site • http://www.rusa.org/perminfo.html

  5. Cool things I have personally seen on permanents • Families of trumpeter swans, otters, hawks, eagles and other wildlife • Beautiful sunrises and sunsets • Cool historical sites and architecture • Gardens maintained in the middle of nowhere • Some nude teenagers, but we try to ignore them.
