KEY RESEARCH • Parental involvement has a significant effect on pupil achievement throughout the years of schooling • Part time work and ‘A’ level success 5-10 hours part time work per week has a slightly positive impact upon A level results 10-20 hours part time work can negatively affect results by up to 2 grades (University of London)

  8. 16 – 19 Bursary Fund • Letters inviting applications for Phase 1(students in care or in receipt of income support or disability living allowance) have been issued. • Phase 2 letter will be sent before October half term (students who live in a household on low income in receipt of either income support or tax credits). WHAT CAN THE DATA TELL US? • ALPS target grades are based upon prior attainment (GCSE examinations) • Estimated grades are a professional judgement based on assessment information and attitude to learning • Estimated grades can go up and down over the next one / two years • Quality of coursework/controlled assessment can affect estimated grades • It is never too late to improve grades
