Current situation IFCA (CMS) USC (LHCb) IFAE (ATLAS) UB (LHCb) CIEMAT (CMS) UAM (ATLAS) IFIC (ATLAS) • Participation in DataGrid and CrossGrid • EDG testbed • 2 multi-disciplinary farms of ~200 nodes in IFIC and IFCA • “Special Action” for 1 year of 500 K€ (about 50% materials, 50% personnel & travel) coordinated by Jesus Marco. Coordinated Project to prototype a “Grid Economy” inside Spain EAD, MCF, GSW, CDC IFCA EAD, GSW, CDC EAD, ETD, PIC, EDS, GSW USC IFAE EAD = Analysis Farm EDS = SW Dev Platform RSG = SW repository GSW = SW Gridification MCF = MC Fabric GVM = Virtual MC farm ETD = Data Transform PIC = Gridified Data Store SEG = Security Architect CTS = Tech MC Support CDC = Data Chal. Coord. EAD, MCF, EDS, RSG, SEG, CTS UB CIEMAT EAD,EDS, CTS UAM IFIC EAD, GVM EAD, MCF, CTS, CDC • ~ 3 M€ request to funding agency (2003-2005) • Stay away from glitz. Concentrate on deployment, MC production & analysis • Use local Univ. for TT to other discip. • 600 KCHF materials contribution to LCG-CERN M. Delfino / UAB / LCG-ES Plans of Spanish Groups for LCG / LCG Launch Workshop

Idea of Tier-1 evolving: Prototype idea of a “GridPort” The LHC Community PIC Spanish “Grid Economy” Zone • PIC = Port d’Informació Científica (Collaboration of CIEMAT-IFAE) • “Legacy-free” center for data-intensive scientific computing • Exploit commodity hw and automation • Store and offer datasets to global LCG • Cache datasets from global LCG for use by LCG-ES M. Delfino / UAB / LCG-ES Plans of Spanish Groups for LCG / LCG Launch Workshop

  7. Some (personal) concerns…. • So many “national Grids” in Europe ? • More and more coordination bodies & meetings:When will we manage to do any actual work ? • Good to run your own things during prototyping,but for production would like to see Grid Servicesabsorbed into a generic “Grid Infrastructure” wherewe only need to add LHC-specific hw and sw.
