  1. A Note From the Teacher... Happy New Year! I hope you all had a fabulous break. I can’t believe how fast this school year is flying by! On Monday, your child brought home a permission slip for our field trip to Sea World. The trip will be on January 24th. Please fill out the permission slip and turn it in with the money no later than this Friday (Jan. 10). If you are interested in being a chaperone, please let me know by Friday morning so I can put your name in the drawing. I will contact the parents who won on Friday afternoon  Mrs. Sprague’s Snapshots Contact Information Mrs. Sprague Email: jessica.sprague@ocps.net Phone: 407-876-7500 x3074246 Blog:http://teacherpress.ocps.net/jessicasprague/ Week of January 6th– 10th Reading-The story that we are reading this week is Schools Around the World. We have been working on comprehending text by determining important details. We are also working on the vowel digraphs ee/ea, writing in future tense, using quotation marks, and how to use a dictionary. Please make sure that you have your child write in complete sentences, when working at home or completing homework  Math-We have already started Chapter 6: 3-Digit Addition and Subtraction. Students are learning many strategies for adding 3-digit numbers. Please continue to have you child practice their addition and subtraction facts at home. Being fluent in basic math facts makes a huge difference! Social Studies-We have kicked off the New Year by talking about New Years Resolutions! Students have made their own and are excited to start challenging themselves for 2014. This week we are also discussing the difference between our New Year and the Chinese New Year  Thank You!
