Why does everyone have to revise? • As I was reading the letters, most of them were missing major things that would have made them quality letters • Because of the number of letters like this, everyone will revise
But what if my letter was good to begin with? • Great! Then it will not take you long to make revisions as you will have only minor ones to do
When is it Due? • Next Tuesday October 16
What Happens if I do not turn it in? • You get a “0” for the assignment, even if you turned in a letter already
Why? • Because this is your redo • I need to report the scores • I need to mail the letters

Things to consider when revising • Make sure to use facts as evidence and not your own logic • Example: Do not automatically assume that cement particles will pollute the air. Back it up with facts and evidence!
Things to consider when revising • Your facts should be cited and from research • The facts did not just pop into your head. You got it from somewhere • Give credit where credit is due
Example DO this… • “Research by Psychiatrists Drs Thomas Holmes and Richard Rahe revealed a list of common causes of stress…The day-to-day causes of stress are called daily hassles; they are those daily, minor irritations such as misplacing our car keys, traffic jams, minor arguments with family/colleagues, etc.” So it is safe to say that traffic can cause stress Not this… Traffic causes stress. How do we know your conclusion is true?
Example • DO This…“The cities detailed Alternatives Analysis showed that a rail transit system could reduce future traffic congestion by 11%, while simply increasing the number of buses would reduce future traffic congestion by just 1.3%.” • Not this… • Rail will reduce traffic How do we know your conclusion is true?
Example Do this… According to the Cities alternative analysis, the rail will only reduce the traffic by 1-3% Not this… The rail will only reduce traffic by 1-3% Make sure we know where your information is from
Things to consider when revising • Make sure format is correct
[Recipients Name][Address line 1][Address line 2][State, ZIP Code]Dear [Recipients Name], Sincerely, [Senders Name] Address (preferably MMS address)
Things to consider when revising… • One page typed! • Print out 2 copies (one for me and one to mail)
