With LIBRY 1210Your options are open to fit your schedule. • Pro: Saves you time to add more units to your schedule without actually attending a class session. • Con: No face-to-face interaction. Everything is taught online and turned in via digital drop-box or at the library. • Pro: You can schedule quizzes anytime you would like on a given day (by the professor). • Con: You must constantly check blackboard and horizon e-mails for updates or changes. Taking it online: pros & cons Taking in person: Pros & Cons • Pro: Face-to-Face interaction. Welcome to ask questions if you’re confused. • Con: Wastes 2 hours of your agenda, where you could be taking a class worth more than just 2 units. • Pro: Could be more helpful in the long run if you’re serious about getting information on good research techniques. • Con: Quiz at the given time and you must be prepared for each class session (instead of sleeping in where you can with an online class) NOTE: Online LIBY 1210 course is only available to selected clusters. If you’re cluster does not contain an online option, you will need to talk to Linda Beebe for personal assistance.

  4. My experience with LIBY 1210 Professor: Doug Highsmith Mode of teaching: Online • Loved having LIBY 1210 class taught online. • Saved time and much more convenient. • Workload was generous; assignments were long and tedious but they paid off. • You learn useful researching techniques using common search engines like Google.com • Online presentations were also long but with the time given, it was a reasonable amount. • Course is broken into Modules, each covered within 2-3 weeks at the most. • All the material is posted on Blackboard in the beginning of the quarter, which gives you an upper hand in finishing assignments early. • I loved taking the class, my professor was helpful and considerate, I recommend incoming freshman to take this class and possible the same professor! • - Shama Abzal, CSUEB ‘12 Freshman
