  4. How to Secure Donations for the Silent and Live Auctions Reach your $500 “Give or Get” by helping us secure items for the Silent and Live Auctions!

  5. Auction “Ask” Process: Before the Ask Prior to making any “asks” send email to holidayshops-auctions@jlw.orgfor clearance. Please include the following information in your email: • Company/Contact Name of Potential Donor • Item(s) you will be requesting for donation • Any personal connection you have related to this donation request Why must we approve all asks? • Avoid asking the same person to donate more than once • Helps us track what items we should be expecting to include in the auction We (Rynnie and Eleanor) will let you know when it’s okay to move forward with your donation ask. In some instances, we may need to seek approval from JLW Ways & Means, but we will get you an update as soon as possible.

  6. Auction “Ask” Process: The Ask Send email/make phone call/mail letter to approved donor requesting auction item(s). Please use the approved letter template (feel free to personalize) and be sure to include the JLW Donation Commitment Form. • In-Person • Go into businesses you already frequent or have a relationship with • Over the Phone • Script has been developed to help you make the ask, and also includes some impressive “JLW Facts and Figures” • In Email • Standard email template has been developed Note: The JLW Holiday Shops Auction Letter Template and JLW Donation Commitment Form can be found on the Full Committee page on the JLW.org website.

  7. Auction “Ask” Process: Successful Ask Once you’ve heard back from your potential donor, send completed donation form to holidayshops-auctions@jlw.org. This will let us know the outcome of your ask (details of item(s) secured, contact person, need to pick-up item, etc.). In some instances, donors will send items directly to JLW without notifying you directly. We will be sure to let you know if your donation item(s) has been received so that you know the status of your ask.

  8. Auction “Ask” Process: Not right now If turned down for this year, send an email to holidayshops-auctions@jlw.org and let us know the details of your ask (details of item(s) requested, contact person, potential future interest, etc.).

  9. What to Ask For… Value of Donations: • Strongly encourage donations valued $100+ (especially as it relates to restaurant and spa gift cards) Quality of Donations: • Something you would LOVE to own yourself • Only NEW items • No "discount" donations (must be a gift certificate or actual tangible item) • Brand items only; no knock-offs

Wish List • Silent Auction Ideally items valued at $100 or more… • Women: Jewelry, Shoes, Clothing Gift Certificates, Cosmetics, Spa, etc. • Men: Golf, TV, Liquor, Clothing, Games (PlayStation, Xbox), etc. • Kids: Books, Theme parks, etc. • Food and Wine: Restaurant Gift Certificates, Bottles of Wine, Cooking Lessons • Sporting Events, Concert Tickets, Show Tapings • Home Decorations, Car Servicing, Holiday Decor • Electronics (iPad, Kindle, etc.) • Trips: West Coast, East Cost, Florida, Beach, Ski, Vegas, International, etc. • Live Auction Think about unique experiences you would be interested in… • Hot Air Balloon Ride, Catered Boat Cruise • All-Inclusive Box Seats to a Sporting event or Theatre Show • Week long stay at resort • Airline Vouchers • Backstage concert passes • Celebrity Meet-and-Greet • Signed Memorabilia

Patron VIP privileges to include free valet parking and an expedited check-in line during special events.
