Animal cognition is the scientific study of the mental capacities of non-human animals. This field encompasses various species, primarily focusing on mammals such as primates, cetaceans, elephants, canids, felines, and rodents. It also includes intelligent non-mammals, like certain birds (parrots, pigeons), lizards, fish, and cephalopods. Some species, such as crows and elephants, exhibit remarkable cognitive abilities, including tool use and problem-solving. Understanding animal minds sheds light on the complexities of intelligence beyond the human realm.

What is Animal Cognition? Animal cognition is the modern title to the study of the mental capacity of non human animals. This study mainly focuses on mammals such as primates, cetaceans, elephants, canidae, feline, and rodent. This study may also focus on non mammalian animals such as birds mainly parrot and pigeons. The study also focus on lizards and fish and non vertebrae mainly the cephalopods. To the intelligent man with an interest in human nature it must often appear strange that so much of the energy of the scientific world has been spent on the study of the body and so little on the study of the mind. Ravens & Crows • Why This Animal is Intelligent • WildHooded Crows of Israel have learned to fish using fish crumbs. • The New Caledonian Crow is extensively studied to it’s ability to make and use tools. Including knives made of stiff plants and dropping a nut in the road. • Crows in New Zealand have learned to eat the deadly poisonous cane toad by flipping it over and stabbing the toad on the throatwhere the skin is thinner allowing access to non poisonous organs • One study suggest crows might be able to recognize one from another
