Know About Common Types of Child Sports Injuries

There is little doubt that children and teenagers who participate in youth sports get considerable benefits. Physical activity has long-term advantages. Other benefits include improved heart health, endurance, and weight management. Improved social connection, self-confidence, and mental and emotional wellness are some of the benefits. There are several drawbacks to heavy sports engagement that we should all be aware of. Some young athletes participate in their chosen sport(s) not just seasonally, but all year. Savannah pediatricians can guide your child to right path.

  1. Know About Common Types of Child Sports Injuries

  2. Here Are Some Common Injuries 1. Overuse or Repetitive Motion Injuries In contrast to one-time injuries caused by a fall or collision, these sorts of injuries are caused by repetitive motion. Tennis elbow (a particular tendinitis suffered by tennis players) and "little league shoulder" (an osteochondrosis of the humeral head) are two examples. Due to high-impact running, jumping, and rapid starts and stops, basketball, soccer, and football players are prone to shin splints. 2. Injuries to the Knee Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) damage is widespread in sports like basketball and soccer, usually as a result of an abrupt twisting and pivoting motion. This is treated surgically by replacing the damaged ligament.

  3. 3. Broken bones A fracture can occur as a result of a sudden trauma in any sport or activity. Stress fractures, on the other hand, are microscopic cracks in the bone caused by repeated, high-impact pounding (such as sprinting) or high-impact landing (as in gymnastics or cheerleading). Conclusion Any athlete or parent who learns that their child has suffered a concussion is understandably concerned. Concussions are a type of minor brain injury that can occur with any type of head contact. Dizziness, disorientation, nausea, and headache are all possible symptoms. Any evidence of concussion should encourage the athlete, coaches, and caretakers to seek medical help right once. So, take proper care and note what problem your child may be facing for sports.
