Top 7 Most Common Sports Injuries

Sports Injuries are very common for players. Here we are going to discuss the top common sports injuries. There is always a risk of injury, whether he/she is an experienced player or a beginner. It is really hard for a sportsperson to identify the impacted part in the case of injury. It could be back pain, muscle pull, ankle pain or a combination of more than one, yet it's tough to identify the real cause and effective area. If a sportsperson is not able to play comfortably, having a hard time during warm-up sessions, stretching sessions, drills, there are fair chances of Sports Injury of some kind of other.<br>

  2. If a sportsperson is not able to play comfortably, having a hard time during warm-up sessions, stretching sessions, drills, there are fair chances of Sports Injury of some kind of other. A sports injury can be either temporary or persistent. An acute or severe injury is one that occurs suddenly and is often the cause of injuries such as ankle sprains, fractures, and back strains. A chronic or persistent injury is one that does emerge abruptly but occurs as overuse of a joint over a long period of time.

  3. The most common sports injuries are : Shin Splints Shin splints refers to the pain in the shins, or the front of the lower legs, usually caused by exercise or the inflammation of the muscles, tendons, and bone tissue around your shin. Shin splints are a common problem for runners, gymnasts, and military recruits. Shin splints emerges with excessive activity. Most often, it occurs due to high impact and repetitive exercise of your lower legs. That’s why runners and gymnasts often get shin splints. Common activities which can cause shin splints are: Running, especially on hills. If you are new in sports, you are at greater risk for shin splints. Increasing your number of days for training. Increase in going a longer distance. Doing frequent exercise that has stops and starts.

  4. Hamstring Strain A strain is a twist, pull, or tear of a muscle, a cord of tissue connecting muscle to bone. It is a severe, non-contact injury that results from overstretching or over-contraction. The muscles behind the knee that make up the hamstring. They are most often pulled when an athlete is overstretching the muscle. The pain is caused by tears in the muscles or tendons. Sometimes bruising can occur in pulled hamstrings. Activities like hurdling or falling forward while water skiing are common causes of a hamstring strain. Not warming up and lack of flexibility can lead to pulled muscles, especially in the hamstring. Hamstring takes a long time to heal. Often 6 to 12 months because walking causes a lot of stress to an injured hamstring.

  5. Groin Pull A groin pull is a common injury to the muscles in the inner thigh. The muscles that consist of six muscles that run from the inner pelvis to the inner thigh bone are known as the adductors. If muscles are stretched beyond the limits, it can cause a strain. Less acute strains result in discomfort and inflammation. More acute strains tear the muscle itself, causing extreme pain and interfering with a person’s range of motion. These injuries are common in athletes such as sprinters, soccer players, weightlifters, and football players who have to either run, squat, switch directions, or abnormally extend their stride. It can also happen to everyday athletes who forget to stretch or warm up properly before starting an activity.

  6. ACL Tear or Strain The Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) is tissue that connects the thigh bone to the shinbone, at the knee, ligaments are tough, non-stretchable fibers that hold bones together. Most ACL injuries occur during certain sports such as basketball, football, skiing, and tennis. The ACL along with the Posterior Cruciate Ligament (PCL), Medial Collateral Ligament (MCL), Lateral Collateral Ligament (LCL), and Menisci (cartilage pads) helps keep the knee stable from sliding, rotating, and hyperextending during running, jumping, and landing. Some sports person with an ACL tear may have little to no swelling or pain and still be able to walk or run even though they have a serious injury. When the ACL is torn then it is common to have injuries to the MCL and meniscus. The symptoms of an MCL sprain may be more pronounced than the symptoms of an ACL tear alone.

  7. Tennis or Golf Elbow Golf Elbow is a condition that causes pain where the tendons of your forearm muscles attach to the bony bump on the inside of your elbow. The pain might spread into your arm and wrist. Golfer's elbow occurs on the outside of the elbow which is similar to tennis elbow. It's not limited to golfers. Tennis players and others who repeatedly use their wrists also can develop golfer's elbow. This pain doesn't have to keep you away from your favorite activities. You have to take a rest and appropriate treatment to get back into your activities.

  8. Shoulder Injury/Dislocated Shoulder A shoulder dislocation is a frequent injury amongst athletes such as football players. There is direct contact between the arm bone (humerus) and the shoulder socket (glenoid). Tissues that hold the bones together – including muscles, tendons that connect muscles to bones and ligaments that join the shoulder bone to the shoulder blade – are also sometimes injured. In addition, tearing of cartilage, a rubbery tissue that covers and protects the ends of bones, is possible. In this injury, a fall or blow causes the top of your arm bone to pop out of the shoulder socket. A dislocated shoulder requires prompt medical care.

  9. Ankle sprains The ankle joint is the body part that is second-most likely to be injured in sports. A sprain is defined as a tearing of the ligaments that connect bone to bone and help stabilize the joint. Sports requiring jumping, turning and twisting movements such as basketball, volleyball, netball and football, and explosive changes of direction, such as soccer, tennis, and hockey are particularly vulnerable to ankle sprains. Ankle sprains can cause a significant amount of pain which can be subject to acute or chronic sprain or strain. If you have suffered an ankle sprain then our rehabilitation center will help you to get back to your full fitness as soon as possible.
