  1. Cooperative Education Department Program Review Summary May 5, 2017

Overview of Program • COOP ED is a working partnership among the student, college and employer that enable students to learn on the job. • Students earn wages and transferable college credit while developing critical thinking and computational skills related to their educational and career goals.

  3. Cooperative Education Team • FTE = 1.69 • There is one full-time professor and three adjunct faculty • COOP opportunities for all Career Technical Education programs and occupational work experience • One bilingual COOP class – Human Services  • English/Spanish

  4. Three Strengths of the Program • Excellent, dedicated team of faculty members. • Flexible scheduling and course offerings that meet the needs of the students, including a bilingual English/Spanish section in Human Services. • Industry support.

  5. Three Suggestions for Improvement • Develop more partnerships with business and industry for possible internships for students. • Improve outreach and marketing. • Work on developing an internship center in conjunction with the Career Center.

  6. Contribution to the Mission of the College and the District • Provide quality work-based learning that leads to professional and personal success and lifelong enrichment. • Offers credit toward certificate programs and general education for AA and AS degrees that is transferable to California State Universities or other private institutions. • Link the College to the human and economic development of a culturally diverse community.

  7. Cooperative Education 670 or 672 Student Learning Outcomes • Establish and achieve measurable job/program-related learning skills and performance at the workplace. • Analyze and successfully perform job/program-related responsibilities. • Develop and implement new job/program-related tasks, skills, or behaviors on the job.

  8. Response to Program Review Feedback • We do have new marketing efforts thanks to the Strong Workforce Grant. This includes a new brochure. • Curriculum changes occur within the individual programs and in the workplace where students are working/volunteering. • Updated the SLOs for the program.
