  1. Seventh REReP Task Force Meeting September 30th and October 1st 2004, Belgrade, Serbia and Montenegro

  2. Mission: Monitoring and influencing the regional initiatives relevant for environment as well as assisting development of environmental movement in the region.

  3. Goals: • To contribute to the capacity building of environmental NGOs; • To follow and influence regional initiatives relevant for environment; • To identify regional environmental problems; • To stimulate the regional cooperation in specific environmental topics; • To exchange information and experience; • To ensure NGO participation;

  4. Development of SEEENN • Vision, mission, goals • Structure: Regional Conference, Executive Board, Advisory Committee, Secretariat, Membership; • Forty five members; • Three Meetings of the Executive Board; • Further directions of development of SEEENN; • Plan of activities for next three years;

  5. Establishing platform of cooperation • Two Regional Conferences, 114 participants; • Three Issue Oriented Meetings on Organic Agriculture, Energy and Biodiversity, 82 participants; • Partnerships and projects on GMO, monitoring the Stability Pact, Energy, information sharing; • Summer Youth School on environmental education; • National Environmental NGO Meeting in BiH;

  6. Exchange of information • Five thousand and four hundred copies of two issues of the SEEENN Bulletin printed in 6 SEE languages and English were distributed; • Published Promotion Material; • Thousand and one hundred visitors per year of the web site: www.seeenn.org.mk;

  7. NGO Participation • Participation in all REReP Task Force Meetings; • Participation in REReP GTZ Project Committee; • Participation in REPC Steering Committee (REReP 2.1.); • Participation in EU NGO Dialogue Group; • Participation in the I Regional Meeting on Environment and Security;

  8. We would like to express our gratitude to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands, and European Commission - Directorate General of Environment for their assistance in establishing and developing of SEEENN.

  9. We would like to express our appreciation to the members of SEEENN Advisory Board, especially to Regional Environmental Center for their assistance and support of our efforts to establish and develop the SEEENN.

  10. South East European EnvironmentalNGOs Network - SEEENN Keeping and motivating people to work together, to understand each other – cooperation and networking was and is not always easy work. Different experiences, different problems, expectations and opinions in direction of what should be done.

  11. Challenges We are confronted with problems as finances, human capacity, lack ofeffective marketing, management and leadership. We should overcome these challenges not only by delivering trainings and granting. Sustained financial and institutional support, cooperation among different existing networks, governmental and business sector is necessary for strengthening the SEE environmental NGOs.

  12. Encouraging and supporting the NGOs to run regional issue oriented campaigns or to identify the self – financing mechanisms will contribute a lot. Introducing the SEE NGOs to the international organisations and networks, exchange of experience and know how will help them in strengthening the capacity for policy making and strategic planning.

  13. We encourage the governments of SEE and donors to involve NGOs in planning and implementing the regional activities. Only by this we can achieve development of civic organizations. • We emphasize the need of access to EU funds for supporting civil society strengthening. Indeed, SEEENN needs capacity building itself.

  14. Priorities • Capacity building of the Network(’s members): Trainings - Cooperation with Henrich Boell Foundation – Regional office in Sarajevo: we have developed project proposal for the future strengthtening of the Network and, thus, SEE environmental civil society (mainly for trainings) Long-term volunteer exchange • Executive Board meeting, Regional conferences, Issue orientated meetings • Developing projects and work on joint regional campaigns • Keep basic level of networking
