  2. ELEMENT OF THE WEEK Hydrogen

  3. Hydrogen peroxide • Hydrogen peroxide H2O2, found in medicine cabinets around the world, is a powerful oxidizing agent. • On human skin, an enzyme unlocks the oxidizing potential allowing it to kill germs. • Concentrated hydrogen peroxide is used as a reactant in glow sticks, color safe bleach, and even rocket fuels.

  4. Hydrogen Fusion! • Hydrogen is the ‘fuel’ of our sun. • H is fused into He releasing energy! (this isn’t the same as burning) • Without this there would be no life on Earth! • H is the most abundant element… • IN THE UNIVERSE!

  5. The Hindenburg disaster • May 6, 1937, at the end of the first North American transatlantic journey • 36 people were killed in total. • H went out of style in airship use after this, (He weighs 4X as much …but is not flammable)
