  1. D.B. Warrington Orphanage at Kelly’s School No Child Left Behind

  2. First a little bit about us…

  3. Kelly’s Vocational and Agricultural Secondary School • This presentation is done to help improve the educational health of school children in Africa. From Kindergarten to 12th grade • In third world countries this is known as Preschool to Secondary School. • We have a Secondary school in Sierra Leone, West Africa know as Kelly’s Vocational and Agricultural Secondary School

  4. Kelly’s Vocational and Agricultural Secondary School • This school is a coed school • Presently at Kelly’s Secondary School, which is from Kindergarten all the way up through Middle and High School, we have 700 students, and in that very compound we have the boarding home/Orphanage for the students who lost their parents to the Eboli and Civil War crisis.

  5. Kelly’s Vocational and Agricultural Secondary School • Kelly’s School is a Vocational and Agricultural school, meaning we do not only educate the children in a multiple number of subjects, but we also prepare them to work in various jobs such as a trade or craft or technician in this third world country. • We are giving them a career and education for the future. • We have used Kelly’s as a base for other various projects to help our community. • Our ultimate goal is not only making Kelly’s School a better place, but to help other schools in Sierra Leone and empower them to work with us and help the children in Sierra Leone nation wide.

  6. How can you help? • Our most important aspect of this project is not just helping the school, but spreading these projects NATION WIDE. Our goal is not just to help one school, but spread it as far as possible. • We are asking that you look at these slides, and choose which project you can assist us with to help the overall educational and physical health of the children in Sierra Leone, West Africa. • For details on how you can contribute financially, please contact Millicent Sawyerr directly. Her contact information will be at the end of this presentation. • Any thing contributed helps. These children deserve the basic needs that most of us take for granted every day. After everything they’ve been through with diseases and wars anything we can do to bring them just the everyday necessities will be a much needed bright spot in this world.

  7. The Reasons for this Orphanage • Sierra Leonne was faced with a deadly disease that we all remember called Eboli, as well as a devastating civil war. • During these times some of the children at the school lost their parents, with no other relatives to take care of them they had nowhere to turn. • Especially the girls. Some of these girls were left to stay with friends or boyfriends. They were forced into marriage or a sexual relationship in exchange for living. • With their family gone, they could not afford to live on their own, let alone come back to attend school

  8. When We Started and How We Help • In January of 2018 we decided to remodel one of our classrooms into a boarding home for these girls • We provide them food, shelter, clothing, and nurturing services • We have a matron there 24/7 to be with them and care for their emotional, physical, and spiritual needs. • We provide after school services such as tutoring, and educational trips to places like the beach, museums, or even theatres

  9. What We Need and How You Can Help • We are asking for assistance such as having a bigger building in order to house more girls that are struggling • We need beds, drawers, sheets and blankets, and tents • We need the daily essentials such as computers, television, clothing and toiletries • We ask that God will touch your hearts and reach out for an orphaned girl to change her life for the better

  10. D.B. Warrington Kindergarten at Kelly’s School Starting the influence and support at a younger level

  11. The Founder • The Kindergarten was started a year and a half ago, under the name of D.B. Warrington Kindergarten • Named after the founder of the school, D.B. Warrington worked very hard and one of her dreams was to help the little children and incorporate the Kindergarten level into Kelly’s School

  12. What We Need • So far the kindergarten level is actually one of our most stable aspects of the school, we are doing a fabulous job with them • We do need some improvements, such as a play area, educational equipment for the children, and other minor improvements to give these children what they deserve.

  13. How To Help Any donations of any amount will help. If you would like to put financial aid to a specific project you can specify that at the time of donation. To donate please contact Millicent Sawyer directly at the information below. We are a 501(c)(3) organization and donors can receive a tax deductible form for their donations. We make regular trips to the school to check on progress, you will receive updates/videos/newsletters so you can supervise your donation and see exactly how you are helping! We have a team that makes trips out to Sierra Leone and you can even join us on the journey to see first hand how your contributions are helping these children.
