  7. What is Lean? • An approach to continuously improving workplace activity. ​ • Two key concepts:​ • respect for people ​ • continuous improvement​ • ​NOT a project but a way of working​

  8. 5 Principles of Lean 1. Value – what do you need to do to deliver benefit to the customer? 2. Value Stream – what are the steps? 3. Flow – Enable smooth flow 4. Create Pull – carry out tasks only when required by customer 5. Achieve Perfection

  9. What is Six Sigma? • Business Improvement methodology developed by Motorola. • High emphasis on quality management, uses statistical tools and the six sigma measure of process capability • Uses "Data driven problem solving" and "fact based decision making“ • We are concentrating on Lean today
