RDBMS • Streaming media including videoconferencing • WAP • Voice recognition gateway • Server side scripting • FTP • SSL • Listserv • -------------------------------- • Application servers mounted in the same rack • Primary Server: • Dual processor expandable to 6-8 • Minimum 550 Mhz Xeon • Minimum 1GB Ram – expandable to 2GB or more • RAID Disk Controller + • 18GB+ Redundant Primary disks for OS, services and other material exposed to the Internet Internet Security layer • External Disk Array: • Minimum of six disks 30-40 GB expandable to 12 disks or more • RAID technology for fault tolerance Intranet Application Server 1: Internet Map Server: A “1U” commodity server that uses file storage provided by disk array. Can be brought down without affecting primary server Application Server 2: i.e. e-Commerce Server: A “1U” commodity server that uses file storage provided by disk array. Can be brought down without affecting primary server Lab LAN • Workstations and Development servers used to perform research and develop applications • Workstations • Commodity tower style development servers ($2-3K range) Backup solution: Autoloading backup system that can perform scheduled backups of the server and workstations across the Intranet UPS
