  5. 2005 July at the Hilton on the Park, Melbourne The committee meets to decide the timeline for Incorporation

  7. 2005 The first short story competition is run Attracting 75 entries from Australia, Hong Kong, New York, New Zealand and the UK Winners are announced at the Hilton

  8. August 2005 The AHWA is incorporated in Victoria as Australian Horror Writers Association Inc

  10. 2006 10th of July marks the day when the AHWA is officially open to paid memberships 180 members and still growing as of 19/9/2008

  13. Our mission AHWA aims to become the first point of reference for writers and fans of the dark side of literature in Australia. AHWA aims to spread the acceptance and improve the understanding of what horror is in literature to a wider audience, and in doing so gain a greater readership for established and new writers alike
