  10. Task From Zombies and Dr Caligari's somnambulist to slasher and supernatural films, how will you create a fright night?? You will be exploring the conventions used in horror films through designing your own horror film. You will create a synopsis of the film accompanied by a movie poster. When creating your synopsis and poster, you must think about the following questions: What do the themes used to generate terror and worry about the unknown say about the social world we live in? How and why are certain elements used to scare us?

  11. 5 minutes • Write a synopsis of your film • Give the film a title

  12. 10 minutes • Create a movie poster to go with your synopsis

  13. 5 minutes • Deconstruct your poster to explain (in depth) why you designed your poster in that way Answer: • Why / how your poster fits in with the conventions of horror genre • Why / how your poster fits with audiences cultural assumptions • Denotation / connotations • Codes / conventions • Effect
