  9. Commensalism – a relationship in which one species derives food or shelter from another species without seriously harming that organism or providing any benefits in return

  12. Producers and Consumers • Producers – produce their own food; also called autotrophs (auto – “self”; -troph – “nourish” • Consumers (Latin for “to take up”) – do not make their own food; consume plants or other animals; also called heterotrophs
