Ending Patient Assignments: The Basics • Staff from day shift and night shift can be assigned to the same patient at the same time • Two different methods can be used to end assignments • Method #1: Utilizing “Patient Detail” feature • Method #2: Utilizing “Staff Detail” feature • Both methods are equally effective

  3. Ending an Assignment: Patient Detail Method • Use this method to remove one patient from your assignment 1) Open Create Assignment RN 3) Double click on the patient’s name OR click the Pat. Detail button 2) Click on the patient’s name that you want to remove from your assignment

  4. Ending an Assignment: Patient Detail Method 4) The Patient Detail dialog box will open. Click on your name 5) The End button will activate. Click on the End button

  5. Ending an Assignment: Patient Detail Method 6) The End dialog box will open. You DO NOT have to give a reason for ending the assignment. Just click the OK button 7) Your name will be highlighted in blue. Click OK to exit and return to the Create Assignment screen

  6. Ending an Assignment: Staff Detail Method 1) Open Create Assignment • Use this method to remove 2 or more patients from your assignment RN 2) Search for your name and select it (the same as when you make an assignment). The patients currently in your assignment will be highlighted 3) Double click on your name OR click the Staff Detail button

  7. Ending an Assignment: Staff Detail Method 4) The Staff Detail dialog box will open. Your assigned patients will be listed. 5) Hold down the Ctrl button on your keyboard and click on each patient you want to remove from your assignment. 6) The End button will activate. Click on the End button

  8. Ending an Assignment: Staff Detail Method 7) The “End” dialog box will open. You DO NOT have to give a reason for ending the assignment. Just click OK 8) The patients removed from your assignment will be highlighted blue. Click OK to return to Create Assignment

  9. Ending Patient Assignments: Summary • There are 2 methods for ending patient assignments • Both methods work equally well • Use the Patient Detail method to remove one patient from your assignment • Use the Staff Detail method to remove 2 or more patients from your assignment
