  3. What’s Changed? • “Micromanage vs. macro-manage” • 5 exec to 3 exec • Summer exec • Honoraria potential • Evenly distributed workload (management) • Kept everything that must be handled at exec level • Benefits: • More people involved (heavy competition for Directorships) • Varying personality types involved (more specific jobs, Design teams*) • More opportunity for director to executive transition

  4. Changes: The Executive • President • Oversight of: Academics, Professional Development, Conferences, First Year • Absorb academic advocacy • Connect alumni to PD • Closer ties to ERB (no oversight but connect for support/ information) • Vice-President (Operations) • Oversight of: Services, Finance, HR • Less time spent towards Services finances as DOS will cover this • Closer ties to corporate initiatives for support (strat plans & budgets) • Vice-President (Student Life) • Oversight of: Design, IT, Internal Affairs, Communications, Events • Advocate on behalf of the design teams & clubs to the faculty • Oversee health and safety for Society • Closer ties to discipline clubs and year executives • COI/ Equity committees

  5. Changes: The Directors • President’s Directors: • Academics • Direct oversight to Englinks and BED Fund • Big plans for Englinks w/ the Faculty – requires significant time • Provide academic info sessions and educate self on policies to relay info • PD • More of a focus on alumni relations (happening already) • Conferences • Will coordinate with on campus conferences in the capacity that VPSD would • Dependent on future with ESSCO and CFES for external conferences • First Year • Stays the same

  6. Changes: The Directors • Vice-President (Operations) Directors: • Services • More of a focus on service finances • Staff chats off portfolio, but will relay feedback to service managers/ staff • HR • Conduct “staff chats” with all positions in Society • Managers & staff: can provide anonymous feedback, processed by DOS • Big positions in Society: OC, Chief, Convener, ED • Take over hiring/ getting involved aspect of VPSA (online application system) • Finance • Stays the same

  7. Changes: The Directors • Vice-President (Student Affairs) Directors: • Design • Coordinate with Design Teams & clubs • Round tables • Keep VPSA in the loop for any advocacy (financial or otherwise) to faculty • Ensure proper attention to teams & clubs (social media coverage) ~ Comm • Communications, IT, Internal Affairs, Events = the same
