  4. What are steroids? -Chemicals that are based on the male hormone testosterone. Steroids enter the bloodstream and make their way to muscles and organs. They enter the cells and stimulate production of new proteins. These proteins are responsible for the sought-after effects of steroids.

The Brain and Steroids -Steroids affect the hypothalamus and limbic system which control hormones. -Use of steroids may result in low testosterone production in men. -Results in cessation of menstruation in females. -Affects memory and moods -Impair learning and promote aggressiveness (ROID RAGE)

  9. If they are illegal, how do people get them? -Legally steroids are only available with doctor's permission. -Most steroids are from illegal sources. These steroids are stolen from non-med resources, fraudulent prescriptions, smuggled from other countries, produced in underground labs. -These steroids are especially risky because the buyer does not know what they are getting.

  10. Are Steroids Addicting? -Just like an anorexic develop an abnormal fear of becoming fat, steroid users develop a fear of becoming small. -Use of steroid takes over body and endocrine system is shocked when it has to try and make testosterone again.
