Learning Objectives • Identify 21st Digital technology and know how to use it in a Learning and working environment. • Understand that the current digital technologies and their role towards modern civilisation. • Apply appropriate etiquettes and management of digital communication and social networks tools. • To promote the positive use of digital media.

  3. What is Computer/Digital Literacy ? • Literacy means to be able to know how to read and write. • Computer Literacy or Digital Literacy means to know how to use a computer, any electronic device and the internet.

Learning Outcome • Understand the meaning of Digital Literacy. • Understand that the current digital technologies and their role towards modern civilisation. • Apply appropriate etiquettes and management of digital communication and social networks tools. • To promote the positive use of digital media.

The Internet • Worldwide connected computer and server - Millions of data, picture, files, image, music, video and lot more were store on servers and users all over the world can view, download, upload, copy and etc. • Vital Instrument- industries, educational institutions, small & medium business and even for home usage. • Get things done faster and effective – video conference, e-mails, instant messaging and etc… • Fast growing Users - It took 38 years for radio to reach 50 million users, 13 years for TV, and only 5 years for the Internet - CyberAtlas.com

Answers • Literacy means to know how to read and write. • Digital literacy is knowing how to use technology, computers and the internet. • Communication is a way of interacting with others. • Internet, MSN, social networks, WiFi, smart phones ,net books, etc. • China with over 4 billion users – the majority of them communicate via text. • The features which allows us to communicate are WiFi, GPS, Video calling, text , BBM, 3G.
