  2. If you have kids at home, you must be knowing that kids are unique. They have different, interests, likes, and dislikes. In a Daycare some kids may devour books and love to dance; on the other hand, some main love animals, or plants; and some may enjoy music ok and Math. This is the beauty of human beings.  Multiple intelligence is a theory, first posited by Harvard developmental psychologist Howard Gardner in the year 1983, refers to the different ways students learn and acquire knowledge. It ranges from the use of keywords, numerals, and music to the importance of social collaborations, contemplation, body movement, and being in tune with nature.

  3. How can you nurture Multiple Intelligence in your kids at home? • Spend time with kids and observe what they like. Try to find out the time and spend doing normal things with your kids. For example, have dinner together, play games, etc. Regular family dinners have the potential to improve children’s health and nutrition, build strong emotional and mental skills and also develop some good habits. Playing with kids and enjoying together increase empathy and happiness in them. • Engage your kids in different ways. Think creatively and try to engage your kids in different ways. Encourage them to read age-appropriate books, do some art & craft activities or let them just go outside and explore nature.

  4. Value their strengths instead of their weaknesses. Many parents tend to label their kids depending on their weaknesses. Instead of labeling them try to find out their strengths and do various activities to strengthen that area. Multiple Intelligence helps parents and teachers to understand children in a better way. • Think about the expectations you have from your child. In Rolling Hills, CA playschools, kids are expected to read and have basic number skills. Having high expectations and giving extra pressure on kids to achieve those can only demotivate them. So, please set some age-appropriate learning goals and do various activities to help your kids attain the goals.

  5. Know that intelligence is a snapshot. Unlike general intelligence, children’s multiple intelligence profile is not static and may shift over time. Let them explore different activities and experiences and enjoy seeing them learning and growing in their own unique way. • Look at the value of all the intelligence. Montessori teachers value and appreciate everything that kids explore and share. All eight types of multiple Intelligence are important for children’s healthy development. So, instead of just focussing on one intelligence, it is good to apply different teaching strategies.

  6. Since each child has their own unique multiple intelligence profile, teachers present information and allow their students to show what they have learned in various ways. For example, teachers can teach children about the water cycle by not only giving an elaborate lecture on the topic but also by showing video clips. In the class, there could be students creating models or doing a performance to demonstrate their understand and learning. Therefore, understanding Multiple Intelligence will help teachers and parents provide kids with richer learning experiences.
