  1. What Are Some Common Motivators for Rhinoplasty Procedures? Rhinoplasty surgery (otherwise known as a nose job) is one of the most common cosmetic procedures performed in the United States and several other countries around the world. Though statistics continue to show more people are getting rhinoplasty every year, very few people truly understand the common motivators behind it. What drives people to have nose jobs? There are three main reasons. Perceived Imperfections The most common reason why people have rhinoplasty surgery is their own perceived imperfections. When they look in the mirror, they see something they don’t like, whether it’s a nose that’s too large or too narrow, a shape that doesn’t suit their face, or perhaps even a bump on the bridge that they wish they didn’t have. These things can have a significant impact on one’s self-esteem, too, and this is especially true among people who have been bullied in the past over their appearances. In this case, people will often consult with plastic surgeons to learn more about their options and how rhinoplasty could help them improve their overall self-esteem by reducing the appearance of these perceived imperfections – or perhaps even removing them altogether. Previous Injuries People who live most of their lives with a relatively perfect nose and then experience some kind of traumatic injury will also suffer from self-esteem issues due to these changes in their appearances. Car accidents and other traumas that may lead to a broken nose can heal, but the way the nose looks may change completely. Even after a nose heals completely, it may still have a bump due to the growth of bone during the healing process, or it may heal crooked if not properly set after the initial injury. Rhinoplasty is truly the only way to resolve these aesthetic imperfections. Surgeons may be able to shave down bone to provide a smoother appearance, and in some cases, they may even have to re-break the bones and set them in order to help them grow back in a straighter, more aesthetically pleasing way. Celebrity Status Although it is not as common a reason as the other two, there are some people who consult with their surgeons for a rhinoplasty in order to look more like their favorite celebrities. Kate Middleton, Duchess of Cambridge, for example, has recently been the center of media attention, and women around the world are visiting their surgeons in hopes of having their noses sculpted to look just like hers. Oddly enough, Kate has a small bump in the bridge of her nose that many people have had surgically removed. Regardless, those who are interested in looking like Kate claim that they appreciate her beautiful and natural appearance that even Prince William couldn’t resist. People get nose jobs across the country every single day for a variety of personal reasons, and the good news is that today’s surgeons have perfected their techniques and created some of the best, most beautiful, and most natural- looking noses of them all.
