  1. Here are a Few Ways to Get Your Lips Looking Plump Though the Kylie Jenner “lip challenge” has long since lost its popularity, women around the world are still interested in finding the best ways to plump their lips and reclaim their youthful look. Fortunately, there are numerous ways to achieve it, whether you want to use makeup, topical solutions, injections, or even surgery. Applying Makeup One of the best, quickest, and most affordable ways to give yourself the appearance of plumper lips involves utilizing a well-known makeup technique. To make your lips look fuller, use a liner a half shade darker than your chosen lipstick, and line your lips just outside the natural lines. Then, fill in your lips with your lipstick and apply a bit of gloss to the center of both the upper and the lower lip. This will trick the eye into seeing much fuller lips. Utilizing Topical Balms and Serums Many of the world’s most popular makeup manufacturers offer lip-plumping serums and balms that contain various ingredients designed to make lips look fuller. Some of these contain capsaicin, which is the molecule that gives peppers their heat. When applied to the lips, the reaction causes them to plump slightly. Other options include products containing vitamin E and collagen, which can help the lips become plumper over time. Finally, some of the newest products contain what are known as microspheres, which penetrate the folds of the lips’ skin and swell with moisture, causing the lips to look larger. Lip Injections Lip injections are growing in popularity in the United States. Dermal fillers are the most popular options for achieving plumper lips, and most of these contain a substance known as hyaluronic acid that not only boosts volume, but also helps to stimulate natural collagen production, providing plumper lips over time. Collagen itself may be injected into the lips, but this is not as common as it once was due to questions about its safety and a lack of long-lasting results. Fat Grafting Fat grafting is also growing in popularity as one of the safest and longest-lasting lip augmentation procedures available. Essentially, the surgeon simply removes fat from an area of the body, such as the thighs or abdominal area, then reinjects it into the patients’ lips. The goal is to replenish what is lacking in lips as they age – fat, collagen, and the patients’ very own tissues. Roughly 70% of the fat injected into the lips stays in that area permanently; only 30% is reabsorbed by the body. This makes it the best option for most patients. Lip Implants Lip implants are another option, but thanks to advances in dermal fillers and fat grafting procedures, it is becoming less common with each passing year. Surgeons will make a small tunnel-like incision to accommodate the implant, then insert an implant of the right size and texture to provide natural-looking results. Though the risk of serious complications is quite low, implant rejection, infection, scarring, and stiffness are all possible. As you can see, there are numerous ways to plump your lips, whether you’re looking for a quick fix or something more permanent. Makeup and topical balms can provide plump-looking lips for several hours at a time, but if you want longer- lasting results that look incredibly natural, things like fillers, fat grafting, or implants are the better way to go.
