  4. Periods 1 and 2 Exemplar The message explains the picture because the skeleton describes a body with no life. The skeleton is dead because it’s only survival need is his/her cell phone. The skeleton has no heart or lungs, but a brain. The skeleton is like a robot, it has a brain of it’s own, but the technology alters it. The circles by the skeleton’s ear also shows the technology is controlling this person because it looks like a radar. It looks like there is a sensored micro-chip in the ear. This analysis could use some details and examples, but for the time allotted, this student covered the required points, and took some chances.

  5. Period 5 Exemplar The message is saying that with our technology today, things will only get more and more advanced from what it is now. By then, we will be destroying ourselves from what we once were. The cell phone is used in this picture to represent something almost everyone in the world has, and uses, but doesn’t see it as something dangerous. This is also one of the most advancing technology today. As it becomes more advanced, more people want it so it can do more for them. The skeleton is used to show how much it could have already damaged us or “destroyed” us. I think the “missing arm” is so it can show that the humans have evolved even more and also proves that technology is taking over humans and pulling them into a world where they don’t need to do anything and destroy what they know to survive on their own. This analysis could use some details and examples, but for the time allotted, this student covered the required points, and took some chances.

  6. Period 6 Exemplar The importance of cell phones in the message is that it’s the thing that showed we evolved. It shows what human intellect is capable of creating. It is the “evolution” part in the message. The importance of the skeleton also is to show we evolved , but in a physical way, so it corresponds with cellphone to show that we evolved physically and on an intellectual level. The concentric circles are important to the message because it shows that with our phones, we can do anything and send that to anyone, which could lead to us just destroying each other in different ways. Another way is the fact that the circle are red and part of the brain is red, which can show that cell phones affect our brain directly, destroying our mentality. Finally, the brain. The thing that gives “us” and the thing that controls the whole body . . . will be the thing phones will destroy, since everything we do goes through our brain and the phone could destroy that. The phone will destroy what makes us “us,” thus destroying ourselves. This analysis could use some details and examples, but for the time allotted, this student covered the required points, and took some chances.
