(counts for 15% of your grade) • Including your study guide you will have about 3 assignments per week, not including studying for test. • We will be conducting labs, you must follow all safety rules, or you will receive a zero for the assignment.

  13. Tonight's Home Work Assignment • You have been given: • Course syllabus with sign off • Lab procedure sign off • Internet usage sign off • Your 1st homework assignment is to bring in all three sign off sheets when we have class on Monday

  14. What is expected of you in this classroom? • When you walk through the door, you are entering a “No Whining Zone”. • You are here to learn and I am here to teach.

  15. Class Rules • Be ready to learn, keep an open mind. • Respect yourself, your classmates, and your teacher. • No eating in class. • Of course, you must follow all school rules too!

  16. Daily Procedure • Be here on time. • The consequences for being late include teacher detention and/or referral to your grade office. • Take out your textbook & notebook. • Do the bell work assignment (silently).

  17. If I want the class’s attention • I will stand up at the front of the class and raise my hand. • Please stop talking, and eyes towards me.

  18. Can you move around the room? • You can not move around the room while I am instructing, the room is just too small. • If you need to use the restroom: • One person is allowed out at a time. • Raise three fingers, not two or one, that’s just too much information. • Have a pass written out before you come to me.

  19. If you are late to class • Quietly: • Enter the room • Place your late slip on my desk • If you do not have a written pass for being tardy you will have detention the next school day • Go to your seat

  20. When the class is over • The teacher dismisses you, not the bell. • Please do not “pack up” until I tell you to.

  21. What happens if you do not follow class rules? • The consequences of not following the class rules and procedures depends upon the infraction and severity. • 1st :most consequences will be a warning • 2nd: teacher detention • 3rd: written referral • If the infraction is blatant enough, you could immediately be sent to your grade office! • Please, just be courteous to everyone.

  22. To Sum Up • Biology is a fast paced course. • Don’t let yourself fall behind, if you need help, I am here for you, even before or after school. • Do all your assignments, especially your study guides. • Let’s have an awesome year!
