  1. Dragon Naturally SpeakingVoice Shortcut Details The purpose of this document is to further explain how to edit/modify your existing voice shortcuts (macros) in Dragon Naturally Speaking. It also explains the steps necessary to create a macro that will “sign” your AHLTA note automatically (i.e. type your password in AHLTA and click “sign” note).

  2. top-left of screen Step 1: Access the “Command Browser” from the Tools menu in Dragon. There are two ways to do this (both illustrated here). bottom-right of screen

  3. Alternative Method for Accessing Command Browser • Make a desktop shortcut to the following file... This is particularly useful if you make frequent changes to your voice shortcuts. Usually found in the following directory:C:\Program Files\Nuance\NaturallySpeaking9\Program\ Right-click this file in the above directory and choose “Create shortcut”

  4. Scripts = Macros = Voice Shortcuts Click the “Script” button shown below to display your macros.

  5. Note the icons highlighted below. These represent the different kinds of “macros” that are available. See next slide…

  6. Dragon has 3 basic kinds of macros (or scripts): Requires some programming knowledge. Used for more complicated multi-step commands. Most users do not use these macros… Advanced Scripting Allows for multi-step process to be made into a macro. This is the type of macro that is used to automatically sign a note. There are multiple steps in this process…thus…”step-by-step” macro. Step-by-Step Basic voice shortcuts created by users. These include signature lines, default physical exams, default procedure notes, etc. Text and Graphics

  7. You can double-click any macro to see more detail (or click “Edit”). This will allow you to update your voice shortcuts after you make them. The next screen-shot shows the display after double-clicking one of my “text and graphics” macros.

  8. How to make a “Sign Note” voice shortcut that will insert your password into an AHLTA note. NOTE: This represents a potential security risk because your password will be visible to any user with access to your profile.

  9. In this macro type, you create each command “step-by-step” by using the lower drop menu above.

  10. Every time I say “sign note” it will run the macro below. To create a macro that will sign your note, these are the only command types you need.(“Type Text” and “Send Keys”)Use them to type your password and send “Alt + S” after typing to “sign” your note.
