  2. GEOPRIV Background • Chartered to undertake Geo-location protocol work which incorporates Privacy controls. • Some common misperceptions: • Does not focus solely on emergency calling use case. • Is not specific to SIP. IETF/GEOPRIV Update

  3. Relationship to ESW’07 • Location information plays an important role when making an emergency call. • GEOPRIV standards: • DHCP Location Information (RFC 3824 and RFC 4776) • L7 LCP (not yet standardized) • PIDF-LO (RFC 4119) IETF/GEOPRIV Update

  4. Relationship to Other Efforts • Defer to OGC for GML. • Civic address schema used in LoST. • Architecture does not assume a catholic LCP. • LLDP-MED, DHCP and more. • PIDF-LO for location conveyance. IETF/GEOPRIV Update

  5. Updates since ESW’06 • Work has begun on clarifications to RFC 3825. • L7 LCP work taking shape. • Requirements coalescing. • Likely to be based on HELD. • Civic address schema revised and approved. • Not yet evaluated by the IESG. IETF/GEOPRIV Update
