  12. WHAT IS PLAQUE? • A sticky film made up of harmful bacteria that forms on everyone’s teeth • Causes tooth decay, or cavities, and irritates your gums • Bacteria in plaque make acids that can attack the enamel on your teeth and cause cavities

  23. WHAT TO DO? • Cut down on sticky and sugary snacks and eat tooth-healthy snacks instead • Brush and floss your teeth after you eat to reduce the bacteria that lead to cavities and tooth decay • Visit your dentist regularly to have your teeth cleaned and protected
