    7. Legacy Support for Student Success

    8. Math TAKS All-Around Us – Raising Awareness All math classes warm-up with a daily TAKS problem. All subjects cooperate with a mid-week A-day & B-day problem of the day 5 minutes before the announcements. Emphasis will be looking at the meaning of a problem, chart or graph and strategies to analyze it. This will not necessarily emphasize working and finding an answer to the problem.

    10. Mock TAKS Test – A Sneak Peek & a Snapshot The mock test will be subject specific to Algebra I, Geometry, Math of Models, and Algebra II classes. Test problems will come from released TAKS exams and other outside resources. Each test includes a mix of the most missed TEKS from our campus. It is balanced with lots of questions students have been successful with. Data from these tests will be applied to our final 3 weeks preparation and to other programs as time permits.

    11. Pull Out Tutoring – Direct Action Assistance The school has hired a Math certified teacher to work with our students in this program. Our TAKS Coordinator, Ms. Barnes, will also teach sessions The program has been designed to assist students with a history of poor success on or have barely passed the Math TAKS portion. We will begin reviewing 8th grade concepts and move on to cover Algebra 1 and Geometry concepts. Weekly students will be pulled for the entire block. These sessions will form groups of no more than 15 students.

    12. Pull Out Tutoring – Direct Action Assistance Each session will be a mix of software and direct instruction. We will not pull students from core subjects.

    13. Saturday Tutoring – Extra Help for All Students Sessions begin Feb. 28th for 6 Saturdays for the whole school. The first session is from 9-11:30 am followed by a FREE pizza lunch and a second session from 11:30-1:30 pm. Students may attend one or both sessions.

    14. After School Tutoring – Additional Help for All Students On Mondays & Thursdays all students will be allowed to attend one-hour computer lab sessions with TAKS software with Math teacher support.

    15. TESTING STRATEGIES

    16. Physical Readiness Get a good night's sleep. Eat a healthy breakfast. Wear comfortable clothing, as long as you follow school dress code. Do not forget to take medications as prescribed by your doctor. If you are supposed to wear glasses or contacts, please wear them.

    17. Reduce Anxiety Be on time to school. Pace yourself during the test.  You have as much time as you need. Tackle questions one at a time. Don't look for letter patterns of correct answers. Don't panic if you have a memory lapse or mental block.  Don't expect to know the answer to every question.  Expect some items to be hard.  Just do your best. Don't worry if others finish before you do. Your test is what matters.  Take your time. Think positively. Don't give up!

    18. Follow Directions Read all directions carefully. Do the sample questions even though you think you understand. Reread the questions to be sure you are answering what is being asked.

    19. Test Taking Strategies Highlight key words. Read the question twice or more. Write as much as you can in the test booklet, draw pictures, write down formulas, create tables.  The more you write down the better you will do. Always try to find the right answer before you look at the answer choices. If you cannot do this, then use process of elimination to work backwards to find the right answer.
