This reflection delves into the profound personal connections I feel with three impactful paintings: "Mother" by Joaquin Sorolla, "Viva La Vida" by Frida Kahlo, and "The Assumption of the Virgin" by El Greco. Each artwork resonates deeply with my experiences and emotions, from the nurturing bond with my mother to the vibrant feelings evoked by Kahlo's colors, and the spiritual pride drawn from El Greco's depiction of faith. These pieces not only reflect my personal narrative but also illuminate the universal themes of love, identity, and belief.

mother • Joaquin Sorolla y Bastida • 1895 • Realism
I chose the painting Mother because it reminds me of the relationship between me and my mom. It makes me think of everything she has done for me; all of the sleepless nights trying to get me to sleep as an infant, playing with me endlessly, and now pushing me to do my best. Also. The painting is showing a mother caring for her baby, this makes me feel loving towards my mother.
Viva La Vida • Friday Kahlo • 1954 • Realism
I Chose the painting Viva La Vida because I like the colors and feeling it gives me. The painting’s colors give me the feeling of summer. Also, the fruit in the painting makes me feel vibrant and excited inside.
The Assuption of the virgin • El Greco • 1577 • Baroque
I chose the painting The Assumption of the Virgin by El Greco because I am a faithful catholic and this is an accurate description of what Christianity is about. This painting makes me feel proud to be a religious person. Also, when I look at this painting I realize what he went through for us.
