  3. Why I chose this painting. I chose this painting because of how it displays the many levels of American life. It shows the industrial aspect with the towering buildings and incessant construction. It also shows how within a big city, one finds both rich and poor, conveyed by the illustration of both a homeless shelter and a savings vault.

  5. Why I chose this painting • I chose this painting because of the intricacy of the work. The people are painted as to look lifelike. The animals also look like their living counterparts. This level of detail requires an incredible amount of artistic skill and only a select few are able to paint like this.

  7. Why I chose this painting • I chose this painting because of the somewhat random and interesting placing of various objects. Set on the background of a city view lie a man, and a statue, both rather oversized in comparison to the rest of the painting. Additionally, in the sky, there is a scene of angels. There is also a castle siting atop what appears to be a cloud near the center of the painting.
