The Regional Arab Forum on Cybersecurity, held at ITIDA HQ in Giza, Egypt, from December 18-20, 2011, aimed to improve coordination amongst Arab nations in addressing cybersecurity challenges. WHY the Forum? • Understand the Landscape of Cybersecurity • Understand the Situation in the Arab Region • Recommend what needs to be done in the region under Hyderabad Action Plan(HAP) & Connect Arab Summit (CAS).
Cybersecurity (Regional Initiative #5) Objective: To enhance coordinationin building confidence in the use of ICTs within the Arab region. Expected results: • Coordination for the formulation of national and regional regulatory policies and frameworks to combat cybercrime in the Arab region • Encouragement for the establishment of national CIRTs in the Arab region, and optimal coordination between them • Support to CIRTs in the Arab region through the provision of expertise and studies in this field • Ensuring the protection of Arab children and youth from harmful and abusive content on the Internet.
