Homes • Crabs live in some marshes and some salt water • Fiddler crabs live near the sea • Fiddler crabs live where land and water meet • Fiddler crabs are semi-terrestrial. That means they sometimes live in water and sometimes live on land.
Behaviors • Crabs swim in salt water with their friends • Crabs wave their claw to scare predators and attract females • They scrape food into their mouths with their small chelae • In order to stay out of water for awhile, they put some water in their shells
Adaptations • The fiddler crab is 2.5 cm to . 1 inch long • Small chelae-used to help put food in it’s mouth • Large chelae-used to fight, dig holes and attract females • Their shell protects them from predators
