  2. What is a Robot? A mechanical device that sometimes resembles a human. It is capable of performing many different complex human tasks on command. These tasks can be programmed in advance.

  3. Define: Robot • A machine or device that operates automatically or by remote control.

  4. Define: Robot • A person who works mechanically without original thought, especially one who responds automatically to the commands of others.

  5. Define: Robot • The root word for robot is based on the words • Servant • Slave • Drudgery

  6. We would all like to have a machine that could be our own personal servant and do the jobs that we dread doing. Define: Robot

  7. How do you build a robot? • Step 1: Decide what you need the robot to do? • Step 2: Design the robot to include parts that will assist in the job it is performing.

  8. How do you build a robot? • Step 3: Find the right parts to build the robot • Step 4: Build it

  9. What parts make up a robot? The same parts that make up your body.

  10. Parts of a Robot • Your body uses a brain to control your actions. • Robot’s use a microchip.

  11. Your body has a skeleton inside. A robot has a frame that is usually made out of metal Parts of a Robot

  12. Your body uses legs to move. Most robots use wheels to move. Parts of a Robot

  13. Your body uses arms to grab. Robot can have arms, too. Parts of a Robot

  14. Energy: Your body uses food. Energy: A robot uses a battery. Parts of a Robot

  15. Parts of a Robot • Some robots even have eyes to see - video cameras.

  16. Parts of a robot • Robots that are controlled REMOTELY will have a control station with a transmitter and a receiver on the robot that receives the radio waves.
