The 2009 ISSMGE International Conference Date: Monday, October 5 through Friday, October 9, 2009 Conference Objective: To promote the translation of geotechnical theory and research into practice. To encourage international and regional dialogues on challenging geotechnical issues. EgyptWhere it all began

Future of Academia and Practice of Geotechnical Engineering We hope that the ICSMGE in 2009 will be a milestone in the history of the international society and should seek answers to the following: • Where does the field of geotechnical engineering stand? • In what direction(s) is the field heading? • What is our future? • What are the research needs of the industry? • How to translate research into practice?
