  3. "Children, obey your parents • (Eph 6:1-3 NKJV) "Children, obey your parents in the Lord,for this is right. {2} "Honor your father and mother," which is the first commandment with promise: {3} "that it may be well with you and you may live long on the earth."

  4. Father’s Must Require the Honor • (Eph 6:4 NKJV) "And you, fathers, do not provoke your children to wrath, but bring them up in the training and admonition of the Lord."

  5. A Father’s Gift • Jim Valvano said, My father gave me the greatest gift anyone could give another person, he believed in me.

  6. The Father must require obedience • Eph 6:1 "Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right.

  7. Eli is a Failure as a father • (1 Samuel 3:10-15 NKJV) "Now the LORD came and stood and called as at other times, "Samuel! Samuel!" And Samuel answered, "Speak, for Your servant hears." (11) Then the LORD said to Samuel: "Behold, I will do something in Israel at which both ears of everyone who hears it will tingle.(12) "In that day I will perform against Eli all that I have spoken concerning his house, from beginning to end.

(14) "And therefore I have sworn to the house of Eli that the iniquity of Eli's house shall not be atoned for by sacrifice or offering forever.” . . .

(23) So he said to them, "Why do you do such things? For I hear of your evil dealings from all the people. (24) "No, my sons!For it is not a good report that I hear. You make the Lord's people transgress.
