Mission “The mission is to make connections between people in the same major by pairing up new members with a "big" (mentor) with the same major. Through this connection, members will learn more about their major, study skills, which classes to take, and how to succeed.”
What does the group to do on campus/ off campus? • On campus • Hold informational seminars for freshmen • Off campus • Hold seminars at high
Executive Board • President • Vice President • Secretary • Treasurer • Recruitment
Our Members • Freshmen to students in grad school. • Targets Freshmen for new members • Join to learn • Members visit URI 101 class rooms
Budget • 10,000 a year. • Booths, food for seminars, t-shirts, renting a room for meetings, and supplies for seminars and meetings.
Organization of Meetings • Organization meets once a month • Communicate via email or online blog • Each big/little pair meet weekly to do homework and bond.
Traditions • Two big socials to kick off the new semesters and get the members excited about the school year. • Build test files. • Bigs take littles out on “dates”
Unwritten Rules • To ensure good testifies • Always respect other members
Decision Making • 2/3rds vote is for elections for positions • Majority rule is for deciding on specifics of activities or fundraisers if money is needed. • If split directly down the middle, the executive board will make the final decision.
Dealing with Difficult People • This organization is a choice; there should not be any problems because if people have a problem they can leave freely. • Talk with the eboard to prevent repeating issues.
Halloween Conflict • President and Vice President remain neutral • No one tries to hurt anyone else • Address each party • Public apology
