Goals • Understand the difference between conceptual- and physical design • Interaction design
Conceptual and physical design • Conceptual model • Use cases and design language • Logical structure, functionality, material but withouth physical design • Physical design • Who does what, the distinction between people and ojbects. What do objects look like and how do they behave.
Exploring design concepts • How do you do? • How do you feel? • How do you know?
Much of the physical design is done during envisionment • The conceptual design does not necessarily precede the physical design
Conceptual design • How do you do? • How to do you affect the world, poke, manipulate, sit on it? • How do you feel? • How do you sense the world? • How do you know? • How should the user learn and plan? How do you want people to think about the system? E.g. Guide or a map? – Guide better for novice, but map better for experts
Design spaces • Constraints and criteria • Positive and negative aspects • Choices • Question, Design Options, Criteria –
Positive / negative aspects • Big fonts • + Easy to see far away • - Takes up a lot of space on the screen • - Can show less information
