What is Hardwater? • Dissolved amounts of metals in water. • Two main metals: -Calcium -Magnesium • Degree of hardness becomes greater as the calcium and magnesium content increases.
How Does it Happen? Acquired through contact with rocks and sediments in the environment Specifically when water comes in contact with limestone
How to Fix it Sometimes it is as easy as boiling the water, and sometimes other actions must be done
Good or Bad? • Hardwater is neither good or bad depending on the use • Hardwater makes many household problems • Is said to be good to drink due to the calcium and magnesium in it
Problems • Household problems: -When bathing, leaves sticky film on skin -When washing dishes, makes dishes look filmy -When washing clothes, makes clothes look scratchy
