4 Traits in Paul’s sharing Jesus

  • Courteous

  • Courageous

  • Christ-Centered

1 be courteous l.jpg
1.Be Courteous

  • V.22 “Men of Athens! I see that in every way you are very religious…”

  • You cannot insult a person into the Kingdom of God.

  • 2:47 believers were… “praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people.”

2 be contemporary l.jpg
2. Be Contemporary

  • Find common ground

  • When he was courteous, he broke down barriers; when he was contemporary, he built bridges to the heart of his audience.

  • verse 23: “For as I walked around and observed your objects of worship, I found even an altar with this inscription: TO AN UNKNOWN GOD…”

  • Got to know people – got to know their city

  • He looked for connectors - bridges

3 be courageous l.jpg
3. Be Courageous

  • verse 23: “Now what you worship as something unknown I am going to proclaim to you.”

  • He tactfully tells them they don’t know what they are worshipping…and he knows the God….they don’t know.

  • We find common ground by listening, reading, watching and by observing.

  • Prayer: “Lord, give me an open door to share Jesus today.”

  • When the door opens, be courageous and step in.

4 be christ centered l.jpg
4. Be Christ-Centered

  • Jesus is the world’s only hope- We must speak about Jesus. v.24-31

  • Tell them:

-We were made in the image of God

    - We sinned – rebelled against God

Jesus, who is God in the flesh, took our place on the cross and paid the penalty for our sins as proven by His resurrection.

    - Our sins are forgiven in Christ – As we trust in Him

    - With our sins forgiven our relationship with God is restored and we have the gift of eternal life …because all of ours sins have been paid for.
