  1. www.eco-schoolsni.org 16-24 November 2013 • What is EWWR? • EWWR is a European Union-wide initiative • It encourages people to produce less waste • EWWR runs 16th – 24th November 2013 • There are 20 Countries taking part • This year’s theme for Northern Ireland is food waste I love food!

  2. www.eco-schoolsni.org 16-24 November 2013 • The Eco-Schools NI EWWR 2013 Campaign will be a fun food waste reduction campaign on the 3Rs: Reduce, Reuse and Recycle. • We would like to invite all Eco-Schools to take a food waste reduction pledge for each of the 3Rs during the week. • What do you already know about the 3Rs? I love food!

  3. This is the Rubbish Monster • The Rubbish Monster Loves food and hates waste. • For this week in school, you will be encouraged not to waste food and to think about ways it can be reused or recycled and make a simple pledge for each of the 3Rs. • You will be encouraged to go home and talk to your families about how they can help with the 3Rs at home during the week and get them to make a pledge too! I love food!

  4. The Waste Heirarchy Which do you think is the priority of these 3Rs? Reduce Reuse Recycle It is important to focus on waste prevention first i.e. reducethen reuse followed by increased recycling. Recycling can help save materials and energy, but cutting down on the waste in the first place is even better!

  5. Ways to reduce food waste from school • Put up the EWWR poster in school to highlight the campaign • Take part in the 3Rs lessons in class • Remember the school 3Rs food waste pledge and try to stick to it! • Try your best not to waste food during school and bring home anything you don’t eat • Send out a press release to your local paper and tell them what you are doing • Tell your friends and family what you are doing Food waste makes me so grumpy!

  6. Good luck with EWWR this year, and remember the 3Rs! What are your ideas for the 3Rs school food waste pledge?
