  2. Ink runs

  3. From the corners of my mouth

  4. There is no happiness like mine

  5. I have been eating poetry

  6. The librarian does not believe what she sees

  7. Her eyes are sad

  8. And she walks with her hands in her dress

  9. The poems are gone

  10. The light is dim

  11. The dogs are on the basement stairs and coming up

  12. Their eyeballs roll,

  13. Their blond legs burn like brush

  14. The poor librarian begins to stamp her feet and weep

  15. She does not understand

  16. When I get on my Knees and lick her hand,

  17. She screams

  18. I am a new man. I snarl at her and bark

  19. I romp with joy in the bookish dark
