The Role of the Mentor • Responsible for providing personal and learning/Youthpass process support to the volunteer(s) • Responsible for helping them to integrate into the local community. • The mentor has also an important role in discussing the learning achievements with the volunteer during and at the end of the Service in view of the Youthpass certificate. • The volunteer(s) can turn to the mentor in case of problems.

  4. EVS as a „learningService“ • Mostvolunteerswillhaveexperiencewithlearning in formal education, likeschool and university, but it mightbethe first timethattheyfindthemselves in a situationwheretheywillberesponsible for theirownlearning and development.

  5. Evs as a „learningService“ • Volunteers will be supported to start a process of self-directed learning. The mentor and the training cycle will support the volunteer in planning their learning, in discovering what they want to learn and how, but ultimately the volunteers are responsible for deciding what they learn and how far they want to go in this process.

Whyyouthpass • To issue high-quality Youthpass Certificates with individual learning outcomes, the European Commission recommends paying attention to the learning process throughout the various phases of the Youth in Action projects. • Reflections on the learning process and outcomes, leading to the issuing of Youthpass Certificates, increase the participants’ capability to make use of the gained competences, and enhance the quality of the projects

  8. WhyYouthpass in EVS • Confirmation of partcipation • Addition to CV when applying for jobs or courses • Educational impact - it has the capacity to improve and increase the learning within an EVS project, and the Youthpass certificate makes this learning visable.

Youthpass process – Role of the Mentor · Supports volunteers in planning their learning / Youthpass process · Gives feedback to the volunteer and enables the volunteer to express him-/herself · Supports volunteers while reflecting, assessing and evaluating learning. · Supports volunteers in formulating learning outcomes and completing their Youthpass Certificates. · Supports volunteers in moments or periods of falling motivation.
